In the Carabao Cup Round 3, Liverpool secured a 2-1 win over Southampton at Anfield, with Isaac scoring his first goal for the club.
In an interview with the official Liverpool website, Isaac said: “When you play for a club like Liverpool, you have to fight for titles across all fronts, stay competitive in every match, and aim to win every game.”
He credited his goal to Federico Chiesa, who won the ball high up the pitch before Isaac finished it off. Despite Southampton leveling the score with 14 minutes remaining, Kéren Ekitike scored the match-winner in the 85th minute with an assist from Chiesa.
Isaac reflected on the team’s resilience, saying, “I used to be frustrated watching last-minute goals like that, but now I’m part of it, and it’s amazing. Of course, we still want to improve, because the ultimate goal is always to win.”
This was Isaac’s third appearance for Liverpool and second start, and coach Slott expects him to be at his best after the October international break. Isaac added, “My situation is a bit special, so I need to do extra work, but I’m happy to do whatever it takes to get back to my best. As for the Crystal Palace game, it’s up to the coach’s decision.”
